Roof trim
Roof trim
A small fold that saves a fascia.
A formed drip that breaks surface tension and throws water clear of the structure below.
Profile cross-section — schematic, not to scale
Overview
Water will run back along the underside of a flat edge until something stops it. A drip edge is the fold that stops it, and its absence is the reason for a large share of rotted fascias and stained walls.
Fitted under the sheet at eaves and behind gutters, and used as a starter for tile and trapezoidal profiles.
Water leaves the edge instead of tracking back underneath.
Sets the first course of a tile or trapezoidal roof.
Keeps run-off off fascia and barge boards.
